Hilary Moriarty

Hilary graduated from Trinity College Dublin, took a Master's degree in Modern English and American Literature and qualified with distinction to lecture in Further Education. Thereafter, her career in further education led to thirteen years as Head or Deputy Head of two independent UK day and boarding schools.

For eight years she was National Director of the Boarding Schools' Association, developing a comprehensive knowledge of more than 400 boarding schools in Britain, and promoting awareness of British boarding on behalf of the British Council in Hong Kong and China.

A contributor to the deliberations on the most recent National Minimum Standards for boarding schools, she has inspected independent schools, both day and boarding, for18 years. Hilary has also writen in the national press on education matters for more than 20 years and contributed to international conferences on boarding in Canberra, Brisbane, Boston and San Francisco.
