Rebecca Dowbiggin University Admissions Consultant

Rebecca Dowbiggin

UCAS & Oxbridge Application Specialist

Rebecca was educated at both the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford and has worked as an Education Consultant for over fifteen years. She has cultivated a deep and comprehensive understanding of the UK higher education system, whilst also evaluating current structures and future reforms of higher education admissions in different international contexts.

Each year, Rebecca supervises a select number of students at William Clarence Education. She enjoys building relationships with their families and encouraging a long-term, strategic view of the admissions process. Rebecca specialises in supporting students in their pursuit of places at Cambridge and Oxford universities and in the competitive, vocational field of Medicine, preparing students for both admissions tests and interviews.

Rebecca graduated with Distinction from the University of Oxford (MSc in Educational Assessment) and continues to develop her pedagogical practice and align her approach to university admissions assessments with the latest in educational research. Indeed, in her work as an Academic Tutor, Rebecca looks to develop constructs assessed in many admissions tests, namely students' cognitive skills and capabilities, eductive ability and their cross-curricular knowledge, skills and understanding (KUS).

Having written her postgraduate thesis on the impact of the university admissions process on student motivation, Rebecca works frequently as a Mentor, to build on students' academic strengths, support their wellbeing and cultivate adaptive forms of motivation, helping them to develop confidence as independent and determined applicants.
